Hello everybody! I'm a fresh W50 owner from Estonia.
Its originally an army truck, it has done only 20 000 kms but unfortunately it hasnt had much "love and care" from previous owner.
Question is: what kind of batteries are best to use for 24V electric system? How much starting power etc?

Hello and cordially welcomely. The battery should a capacity of at least 155 Ah per piece have. 2 x 12 V of battery with 155 Ah = 24 V of 155 Ah.

That is not naturally correct, the amperage doubles itself!
Das ist natürlich richtig, die Stromstärke verdoppelt sich nicht!

two 155ah would be nice, but my ifa also starts with two really old and 2 or 3 times deep loaded 80ah even at -10 degree. i think when you only use them for car not in the shellter some little smaller ons will work too, its a question of money.

If i open my "Reparaturhandbuch" at page 292, i find informations about 2x 135 Ah.
Maybe i´m the only one with this book
so far....

In my repair manual for "Fortschritt ZT 300D ZT 303D" on page 7, point 1.2 "Elektrische Anlage" electrical installation is also written that two pieces of 12 V 135 Ah batteries are needed.
I installed two 170 Ah batteries, because of cold winters, and because they were only 10€ costlier than the 140 Ah batteries. -
